A Axios correspondent quoted U.S. President Joe Biden's advisor, Amos Hochstein, as saying in a press statement on Tuesday that there is a chance to reach a ceasefire agreement in Lebanon soon.
In his remarks to reporters at the White House, Hochstein added that the current situation in Lebanon necessitates international efforts to achieve a de-escalation, pointing to the possibility of reaching an agreement to halt military operations between the conflicting parties in the region.
These statements come at a sensitive time, as Lebanon is experiencing increasing military tensions along its southern border with Israel, due to ongoing clashes between Israeli forces and armed factions, particularly Hezbollah.
For his part, Hochstein expressed optimism about reaching an agreement soon, despite the field and political challenges that may hinder the implementation of such an agreement. It is worth noting that Hochstein is known for his role as a mediator in Middle Eastern conflicts and serves as an advisor to President Biden on Middle Eastern issues.
