A new survey involving 1001 Israelis revealed a significant shift in public opinion, with 40% supporting Israel's control over the Gaza Strip following the current war.

The survey, conducted at the end of March and early April, prior to recent developments, also highlights the broad support for the ongoing military operations.

According to the newspaper "Yediot Ahronot," the results indicate that 39% of the sample believe the Israeli military response against Hamas in Gaza was appropriate, while 34% feel the measures did not go far enough.

Only 19% consider the military operations to be excessive. When asked about the likelihood of Israel achieving its war objectives, 40% expressed certainty, while 27% voiced optimism.

The potential escalation of the conflict to other areas is a concern for 61% of the survey participants. Regarding governance in Gaza after the war, only 14% of respondents believe that the people of Gaza should decide their future, and about 6% support control by the Palestinian Authority led by President Mahmoud Abbas. There are 12% who prefer the Palestinian Authority without Abbas.

Support for a two-state solution has diminished, with only 26% endorsing the idea, compared to 35% the previous year. Concerning U.S. President Joe Biden's approach to the conflict, 60% of Israelis disapprove of his handling, and only 41% believe he maintains an appropriate balance between Israeli and Palestinian interests. Confidence in Biden's ability to manage global affairs has also decreased by 10% since last year.

The survey also highlights a stark contrast in opinions among Arab Israelis, where 74% view Israel's reaction as excessive and only 3% support Israeli control over Gaza after the conflict.
