Four executives from Yemenia Airways, who spoke to Reuters on the condition of anonymity, said the company will suspend its only international commercial flight from the Yemeni capital to Jordan in response to the Houthis' management preventing the company from withdrawing its funds from banks in Sana'a.

The company officials, which is the national carrier of the country, added that it will halt six weekly flights to Jordan next October after negotiations with the Houthis failed to secure the release of the company's funds, which they said amount to 80 million dollars.

The sources also said the company proposed that the Houthi government receive 70% of the funds while the remaining 30% would go to the internationally recognized government.

The sources added that the Houthi administration rejected this proposal, prompting the airline to decide to suspend its flights to Jordan.

The company also stated in a statement that it had been unable to withdraw its funds from banks in Sana'a for several months, calling on the Houthi authorities to lift the "unlawful" restrictions on its assets.

Reuters was unable to reach the Houthi transport ministry for comment. The airline resumed its flights from Sana'a to the Jordanian capital, Amman, in April 2022.

The Houthis, allied with Iran, ousted the Saudi-backed government from Sana'a in late 2014 and effectively control northern Yemen, including Sana'a.
