The lawyer of the wife of the man responsible for the mass shooting in Nova Scotia said she is apprehensive about appearing on Friday before a public inquiry.
Lisa Banfield was beaten and seriously injured by the killer just before the shooting began in 2020, but lawyer James Lockyer says she does not see herself as a victim.
Earlier this week, the commission issued a document based on evidence provided by Banfield during interviews with the Canadian police and the inquiry that details the killer's long history of violence against her.
The commission examining the mass shooting on April 18-19, 2020 also agreed to allow Banfield to testify without facing cross-examination from lawyers representing other parties, mainly because she might suffer psychological trauma by having to relive the violence she endured.
Lawyer Michael Scott says the inquiry commission's decision to limit cross-examination will leave doubts lingering over Banfield's testimony.
