The second full week of June begins with a cold start, with expectations of humid and cloudy conditions across most of Canada.
According to CTV Your Morning meteorologist Kelsey McEwen, frost warnings are in effect in parts of Northern Ontario, with forecasts of cold temperatures across the province on Monday.
McEwen stated that cold Arctic air coming from Northern Canada has pushed westerly winds into Ontario on Monday morning, making the start of the week chilly.
Environment Canada reported that temperatures are expected to drop to or near the freezing mark early Tuesday morning in Northern Ontario, including Timmins, Kirkland Lake, and Chapleau.
They warned that some plants could be damaged or destroyed due to the frost.
McEwen noted that areas of Ontario, like North Bay and a large portion of the lower Great Lakes region, can expect cloudy skies with a chance of rain later in the week.
Montreal also faces the risk of rain into Monday afternoon.
The warming trend in marine areas is expected to stabilize over the next couple of days, with places like Fredericton, New Jersey, seeing temperatures reaching up to 26 degrees Celsius by Wednesday, and Newfoundland and Labrador could experience heavy rain from Wednesday night to Thursday.
To the west, Central and Southern Alberta and Saskatchewan are facing a slight risk of thunderstorms, with weather conditions including a mix of winds, hail, and rain.
McEwen mentioned that potential funnel clouds are expected east of Calgary later on Monday near Hanna, Coronation, and Drumheller.
