A woman from Ottawa, who survived cancer and overcame addiction, won 70 million dollars in a Lotto Max game.

Patricia Warden, 49, won the jackpot in the Lotto Max draw that took place on May 31.

Warden had been playing the lottery for many years. She knew she would win after her left hand started to feel itchy, and when she read the numbers on her ticket, they matched those on OLG.ca.

Warden said, "That's when I lost my mind and started screaming." "My husband heard the commotion, saw my face turning red, and rushed to stop me from falling off the deck!"

Her husband didn't believe her at first when she told him. When they opened the OLG app to check again, they read the message saying it was a winning ticket.

She said, "My knees went weak, and I thought I was going to fall again. I kept thinking that this was a dream, and I would wake up to find it wasn't true."

Warden's mother, who recently moved in with her and her husband, was overwhelmed with emotion, and in the meantime, Warden's children were extremely excited.

She said, "I immediately knew how much this win would impact my life and the lives of my children and grandchildren."

Warden's children were extremely excited, emotional, and full of gratitude. She wants to use the money to help her family and others, noting the importance of the help she received during tough times,

pointing out that she "was a teenage mother, faced cancer as a young adult, overcame drug addiction, and has remained sober for over 25 years," adding that if she could do it, anyone could.

Warden says that thanks to the support and help around her, she was able to weather the storms and build a career to support herself and her family. Warden retired after her win, having worked in disaster home restoration.

She is going to buy a new home for her daughter. After that, she will buy another home for herself, her husband, their two children, and her mother.

She said, "I want to keep my family close; our multigenerational family has a wonderful dynamic, and I want to find a home that meets all our needs."
