Canada's Deputy Prime Minister, Chrystia Freeland, stated that the overwhelming majority of Liberal MPs continue to support Trudeau.
Her comments come as questions continue to swirl around Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's leadership, and whether he has the full backing of the party caucus, which he has not met since the shocking loss of the Liberals in last week's Toronto St. Paul's by-election.
Freeland also mentioned that Toronto-area MPs gathered in her backyard last Wednesday evening to discuss what the election results mean.
She added to reporters at an event held in Milton, Ontario, yesterday Thursday that she believes the message they sent is that "things are tough" and "life is hard" right now.
She pointed out that voters expect the Liberals to deliver results and make things easier.
It is worth noting that Toronto St. Paul's was seen as one of the safest areas in the country for the Liberals, having maintained their support for over 30 years, and even in 2011, when the party suffered its worst result ever and was reduced to the third party in Parliament, the Liberals won by more than eight points in the area.
