The U.S. Food and Drug Administration is investigating dozens of reports of consumers becoming ill after eating Lucky Charms cereal, but no Canadian recall has been issued yet.

The FDA said on Saturday that it has received more than 100 complaints related to Lucky Charms so far this year, with consumers complaining of illness after consuming it.

The agency said in a statement to The Associated Press that "the FDA takes seriously any reports of potential food fraud that could cause illness or injury."

A spokesperson for the Canadian Food Inspection Agency told CTVNews.ca in an email on Monday that they are not aware of any recalls of Lucky Charms cereal.

The spokesperson said, "CFIA is aware of media reports and is monitoring the situation." Several people, including some from Canada, posted complaints of nausea, diarrhea, and vomiting after eating Lucky Charms on a food safety website.

Andrea Williamson, a spokeswoman for Minneapolis-based General Mills Inc., which makes Lucky Charms cereal, said in a statement that food safety is their "top priority."

Williamson said: "We take consumer concerns reported via our website seriously."

"Through our ongoing internal investigations, we have found no evidence of consumer illness linked to the consumption of Lucky Charms.

We encourage consumers to raise any concerns directly with General Mills to ensure they are properly addressed."
