Candidate Donald Trump announced his victory in the American presidential elections, becoming the forty-seventh president of the United States.
In a speech delivered to his supporters, Trump expressed his gratitude to the American people saying: “I thank the American people for this great honor you have given me to be the forty-seventh president.” He noted his victory in the popular vote and receiving about 315 electoral votes, alongside achieving a majority in both the Senate and the House of Representatives.
Trump described this victory as the greatest political event in the history of the United States, stating that it would elevate American politics to unprecedented levels, stressing his commitment to help the country heal its wounds and secure its borders. He added: “We made history, we overcame many obstacles, and this is a victory unlike anything the United States has seen before.”
Trump reaffirmed his commitment to defend the future of the American people, stating: “I will fight for your families, for you, and for a future that our children deserve.”
He expressed his happiness with this victory, describing it as one of the happiest moments of his life, considering that the United States has placed a significant responsibility on his shoulders.
He also expressed his gratitude to his wife Melania, whom he described as the beautiful First Lady, and congratulated his vice president JD Vance on his role in “confronting the hostile media strongholds.”
He pledged to continue the struggle for the dreams of Americans and the future of their children, noting that this historic return would be followed by an economic revival under his leadership.
Regarding immigration policies, Trump stated that he would close the borders to illegal immigrants, reaffirming his commitment to providing job opportunities and stimulating the economy. He continued: “We have large amounts of oil that exceed those in Saudi Arabia and Russia, and we will work to repay our debts and achieve things that no one else can.”
Trump referred to the great diversity in his voter base from various classes and backgrounds, emphasizing that this victory represents a historical consensus in American society, as his party aims to ensure safety and quality education for future generations.
He added that the United States did not engage in any wars during his previous presidency and that he achieved victories over ISIS. He confirmed that he seeks to restore America's glory and provide a better future for the American people.
Trump concluded his speech by calling for overcoming divisions and unifying efforts to restore the country's standing, saying: “It is a great honor, and I will not let you down. God saved me to save the country.”
The Republican candidate Donald Trump was close to returning to the White House as he headed towards securing victory in most swing states, while Republicans solidified control of the Senate.
Vote counting continues to determine the winner in each state after polling stations closed in several American states, bringing the race between candidates Kamala Harris and Donald Trump for the White House closer to its conclusion, amid heightened security measures in the capital Washington due to fears of "violence and riots."
The seven states described as swing states—Arizona, Nevada, Georgia, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Wisconsin—hold the capacity to determine the outcome of the indirect popular vote that will bring either Democrat Kamala Harris or Republican Donald Trump to the White House.
It was impossible to know whether the announcement of the results would take hours or days to identify the winner between Harris (60 years old) and Trump (78 years old), who are completely different in terms of personality and political vision.
