The Director of Media at the Rafah border crossing, Wael Abu Omar, reported in a phone interview during a program on Monday, October 23, 2023, that 57 trucks of humanitarian aid entered Gaza for the third consecutive day of the exceptional opening of the crossing.
The spokesperson also noted the entry of 20 trucks on Monday evening, adding that all the trucks carry water, food, and medical supplies.
These trucks remain insufficient for the Gaza Strip, which is experiencing difficult and catastrophic conditions, according to the Director of Media at the Rafah border crossing, who called for the crossing to be opened fully and daily to allow tons of aid to enter field hospitals and to evacuate the injured.
Regarding the delays in the entry of aid, the spokesperson indicated that the Rafah crossing has been subjected to three instances of Israeli shelling, which caused significant damage to the crossing, saying: "Israel forcibly closes the crossing... with firepower."
He added that many aid convoys are arriving at Al-Arish Airport from all Arab and Islamic countries, but they are waiting for permission to enter the sector.
The Red Crescent had also posted a video of aid shipments and wrote on its Facebook account: "The Egyptian Red Crescent delivers the fourth batch of urgent aid to its Palestinian counterpart."
Over the past two days, two batches of humanitarian aid have reached the Gaza Strip through the Rafah crossing; the first included 20 trucks, while the second included 14 trucks, after nearly two weeks of the complete siege imposed by the Israeli entity, including cutting off electricity, water, medicine, food, and fuel.
For the seventeenth day, the occupying army continues to target Gaza with intense airstrikes, destroying entire neighborhoods, killing 5,087 Palestinians, including 2,055 children and 1,119 women, and injuring 15,273 people, according to the health ministry in the sector.
