The President of the Arab Parliament, Adel bin Abdulrahman Al-Asoumi, condemned the act of extremists burning a copy of the Holy Qur'an in the Danish capital, Copenhagen, considering that these irresponsible acts provoke the feelings of Muslims, fuel feelings of hatred, and threaten peaceful coexistence.
Al-Asoumi emphasized, during a statement today, Sunday, that such acts cannot be justified and call for a firm stance from the international community to prevent the repetition of these irresponsible actions, urging the Arab and Islamic peoples to activate a boycott and refrain from traveling to Denmark.
The President of the Arab Parliament called for the necessity of enacting laws that criminalize the abuse of religious symbols, sacred sites, and divine scriptures, as well as rejecting violence, extremism, and incitement to hatred.
He also urged Arab and Islamic countries to take stronger measures against these criminal practices against Islam and the Book of God, "the Holy Qur'an."
For its part, the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed the Kingdom's strong condemnation and discontent regarding the failure to take necessary measures to prevent the recurrence of incidents of assault on Islamic sacred sites, the latest of which was carried out by a group of extremists in Denmark burning a copy of the Holy Qur'an and raising slogans of hatred and racism against Islam and Muslims, in front of the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in the capital Copenhagen.
The ministry, according to what was stated by the Saudi Press Agency, expressed the Kingdom's condemnation in the strongest terms of these acts that incite hatred and violence between religions, warning against the repetition of these provocative acts against the feelings of millions of Muslims around the world, which constitute a blatant violation of all international laws and norms.
