Robert Kennedy Jr., the nephew of the assassinated former U.S. President John Kennedy, announced that he intends to run for the presidency of the United States as an independent candidate.
Kennedy said at a rally in Philadelphia, "Independence from political parties does not mean making them my enemies; as president, I will work with representatives from both parties."
He also affirmed that the Republican and Democratic parties represent a two-headed monster, and many voters do not sympathize with either, with 63% of Americans wanting an independent candidate to run for president.
Kennedy Jr. also promised independence from the doctrines of the parties, large corporations, wealthy donors, and the military-industrial complex.
He concluded: "I will be able to pursue a foreign policy that puts peace and diplomacy first."
