The Russian space agency said on Monday that the multifunctional "Nauka" module attached to the International Space Station experienced a leak in the backup cooling system used to regulate the temperatures aboard the spacecraft.
The Russian space agency Roscosmos stated in a message posted on Telegram that the crew and the station "are not in danger" while astronauts assess the leak.
This is the latest leak of its kind that the Russians have had to deal with in space recently, following the leak that occurred on a Soyuz crew capsule late last year, which led to the spacecraft being replaced and delayed its crew's return home. A Russian Progress cargo spacecraft leaked coolant after months.
NASA, which operates the International Space Station with Russia, did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
