German Chancellor Olaf Scholz confirmed in an interview with Deutschlandfunk broadcast late yesterday evening that the upcoming G20 summit in India remains important despite the absence of Russia and China.
Scholz stated that the G20 still has a significant contribution to make and a "big commitment" that needs to be fulfilled, especially in light of the increasing importance of the BRICS group, which includes Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa.
Scholz added that countries with a colonial history bear the responsibility of enabling development in their former colonies.
The chancellor offered assistance to former colonies in utilizing and processing their natural resources in what he termed "fair partnerships."
