Thailand has asked Germany to support it in the negotiations currently underway with the European Union to exempt its citizens from obtaining a Schengen visa, in order to facilitate the travel of Thai citizens to EU member states, according to Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin.
Bloomberg news agency quoted Srettha at a joint press conference held with German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier on Thursday as saying that the exemption from the Schengen visa will help facilitate travel for Thai citizens visiting Germany.
It is worth noting that about 700,000 German citizens visited Thailand in 2023, and they were able to stay for up to 30 days without obtaining a visa.
