CTVNews has learned that one of the organizers of the so-called Freedom Convoy in Alberta has been arrested for breaching bail conditions.
"Tamara Leach" was arrested on Monday by local police in Medicine Hat, Alta. She can be held in Alberta for up to six days before being returned to Ottawa.
When Leach returned to Ottawa, she is expected to face a new charge for violating the Canadian Criminal Code.
Leach may remain in jail in Ottawa until a new bail hearing date is set regarding the new charge.
Leach was a key organizer of the convoy that occupied downtown Ottawa for weeks.
On February 17, Leach was arrested after the emergency law was enacted to end the protests. Leach and fellow protest organizer Chris Barber are accused of conspiracy to injure, obstruct police work, and advising others to commit harm and intimidation.
She was released on bail in March with a long list of bail conditions, including staying away from social media, not supporting anything related to the Freedom Convoy, and not contacting or communicating with many individuals associated with the Freedom Convoy.
One of these individuals, convoy spokesman Tom Marazzo, was photographed next to Leach on June 16 in Toronto at an event held by the Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedoms, after which Leach was arrested for violating bail conditions.
