Storm Fiona: Maximum alert and power outage in the Magdalen Islands

In the Magdalen Islands, Tropical Storm Fiona caused significant power outages on the islands, as well as floods and damages. Local authorities also declared a state of emergency and closed the road network.

Winds are blowing at speeds exceeding 100 km/h on Saturday morning. Boats are dangerously approaching docks due to coastal flooding that worries fishermen.

In a press conference on Saturday morning, the acting mayor, Richard LeBlanc, asked residents of the archipelago to stay indoors and not go outside.
