The Canadian police have charged three Richmond residents, located in British Columbia, with "drug offenses and possession of multiple firearms."
In August 2019, officers from the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) intercepted 12 kg of methamphetamine headed to Japan.
Since then, an international investigation has been launched led by a team from the Federal Serious and Organized Crime (GFCGCO) Unit, the British Columbia police, the Japanese National Police Agency, and other partner organizations.
The investigation identified three main suspects residing in Canada, another in Japan, and the latter confirmed to have connections with the Japanese Yakuza transnational organized crime gang, according to a press release from the Canadian police.
