The city of Toronto, Canada, experienced heavy rainfall that flooded major roads and transit centers in Toronto yesterday, Wednesday, causing power outages in multiple areas.
Toronto police said that part of Don Valley Parkway, which runs from the northern part of the city to downtown, was closed due to flooding and noted that part of Lakeshore Boulevard, which runs along Lake Ontario, was submerged and closed.
Toronto fire services stated that they rescued 14 people from flooding on the highway.
Deputy Fire Chief Jim Jessop said, "We are actively working to rescue people trapped in their vehicles or on top of them, and we are prioritizing cases based on life safety."
