Jada Pinkett Smith briefly spoke about the Oscars night slap on Wednesday's episode of "Red Table Talk." Will Smith, Pinkett's husband, went up on stage at the Oscars ceremony in March and slapped host Chris Rock after he made a joke about Pinkett Smith's hairstyle.
The actress suffers from alopecia, which causes hair loss. On her Facebook Watch show, Pinkett Smith hosted 12-year-old Rio Alred's mother, who died by suicide after being bullied because of her alopecia.
"This is a really important Red Table Talk" about hair loss. Pinkett Smith said during the show: "Considering what I went through and what happened at the Oscars, thousands have reached out to me with their stories."
I am taking this moment to highlight and inform people about what alopecia really is." She then addressed the incident between her husband and Rock. "Now, regarding the Oscars night, I hope these two smart men have a chance to reconcile and talk about it."
This was the first time Pinkett Smith spoke publicly about what happened. In April, her husband issued a public apology to Rock and the Academy after the incident, but officials banned Smith from attending the Oscars for ten years as punishment.
