The Russian Andrey Rublev defeated the Italian Matteo Arnaldi with a score of 4/6 and 2/6 to qualify for the final of the Canadian Open tennis tournament in Montreal.

The rain caused a two-hour delay in play, with the score at 4/6 and 1/1. After the match resumed, Rublev won five of the last six games.

Rublev said after the match, "The wait was worth it, I'm happy to reach my first final in Canada."

In the other semifinal match, the Australian Alexei Popyrin ended American Sebastian Korda's eight-match winning streak, qualifying for the final with a victory of 3/6 and 6/7 (0/7).

Popyrin said, "It's an amazing achievement, honestly, it means a lot to me; sometimes you have to pat yourself on the back."

In the women's competition, American Amanda Anisimova qualified for the final of the Canada Masters 1000 event for the first time in her career after defeating her compatriot Emma Navarro with a score of 3/6, 6/2, and 2/6 in Toronto.

Anisimova said, "It's a huge achievement for me, and I worked very hard to achieve it."

Anisimova is preparing to face fellow American Jessica Pegula, the defending champion who advanced to the final after defeating Russian Diana Schneider with a score of 4/6 and 3/6.

Pegula said, "Getting the opportunity to defend my title doesn’t happen often, so I'm very excited."

She added, "It's wonderful to have my name associated with many great stars who have succeeded in defending the title here."
