Ottawa - Telecommunications giant Rogers proposes that Canada ban all Russian state-owned broadcasting stations, not just the RT channel.
It suggests removing all broadcasting stations owned or controlled by the regime of President Vladimir Putin, including RT, Channel One Russia, and RTR Planeta, from Canadian airwaves.
Rogers submitted its proposal in an official report to the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission, which is conducting a fast investigation into whether RT should be banned from Canadian airwaves.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Heritage Minister Pablo Rodriguez have requested the CRTC to review whether the broadcaster should be stopped for spreading Kremlin-controlled propaganda about the invasion of Ukraine.
In the same context, most public consultation submissions, which ended on Tuesday, support banning RT from Canadian airwaves, with many condemning it as propaganda.
However, some people told the CRTC that Canadians should be able to subscribe to the Russian channel to get a different perspective on the invasion of Ukraine.
Rogers, Bell, and other Canadian broadcasters have already removed the RT channel from their listings, with Rogers replacing the channel with the Ukrainian flag.
