An organization intervened to lend a helping hand to rescue an animal. About 150 kilometers north of Winnipeg, under a mandatory evacuation order after ice melt on the Fisher River caused water levels to rise.
More than 1400 people have left since Saturday, most of whom reside in Winnipeg. However, a worker from a company in the affected area jumped in to help rescue a cat that was stuck on a pole after the water submerged everything.
He climbed to the top of the power pole. Those who carried out the operation shared the rescue video with CTV News Winnipeg.
A worker was seen taking the cat, then carefully lowering it and transferring it to a boat. The company’s president, James Favell, said the cat was reunited with her companion, a little girl, and cried with happiness upon her return. He also said this act is humane and noble in regard to animals.
