Peel Police are investigating the eighteenth homicide in the area this year.

Peel Police said they responded to a report of a shooting in Mississauga on Wednesday evening, which resulted in the death of a man.

The incident occurred in the Glen Erin Drive and Britannia Road West area around 10 p.m.

Investigator Heather Cannon said officers arrived and found a man shot in an alley behind residences.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Residents say they heard between six to eight gunshots and the victim lived in the complex. A suspect was reportedly seen running from the area but no description has been provided at this time.

The investigator said, "Regarding suspects, we have potential suspects. Someone was seen running from the area, however, we do not have many details regarding that person."

The investigator added that officers are canvassing the area looking for anyone who may have seen or heard anything.
