Ethiopian Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus was elected on Tuesday for a second term of 5 years as head of the World Health Organization.
Ghebreyesus is the first African to hold the position of Director-General of the World Health Organization.
The vast majority of the organization's 194 member states voted in favor of Ghebreyesus continuing as Director-General.
German Health Minister Karl Lauterbach said on "Twitter" on Tuesday that members of the World Health Organization re-elected Ghebreyesus as the Director-General of the organization for a new term.
He explained: "Dr. Tedros was just re-elected as Director-General of the World Health Organization. Congratulations. He fully deserves it."
