What you need to know about Canada Day events in Ottawa

Public transit (OC Transpo) in Ottawa will be free on Friday.

There will be free service all day on the Confederation Line, regular buses, and Para Transpo on Friday.

OC Transpo bus service will operate on a Sunday schedule, with additional buses to provide greater capacity on busy routes throughout the day, and later on many routes after the fireworks show.

At the same time, O-Train Line 1 will operate according to the Canada Day schedule and will run from 6 a.m. on Friday to 2 a.m. on Saturday, with increased evening service.

Details of the events and festivals that will take place on Canada Day in the National Capital Region

Canadian Heritage will host the "Canada Day 2022" event at LeBreton Flats Park in Ottawa and at the Zibi Festival Grounds in Gatineau.

LeBreton Flats Park

LeBreton Flats Park will host the daytime concert at 11:30 a.m. and the evening show at 8 p.m.

The daytime concert will feature: Lisa LeBlanc, Tenille Townes, Chantal Kreviazuk, Saraimi, DJ Chop, Boogat, Kelly Leader, Sébastien Gaskin, Josiane Como, Ria, Gordie Pander.

The evening show will include Charlotte Cardin, Salebarbes, Walk Off the Earth, Arian Moffat, Saraimi, Neon Dreams, Ria, Cindy Bédard, Sébastien Gaskin, and Gordie Pander.

Canada Day events will be held at the Zibi Festival Grounds from 9 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. on Friday. There will be emerging artists and family activities.

Parliament Hill

While the main Canada Day celebrations will be at LeBreton Flats Park, the Canadian Heritage website says Canada Day activities will take place at the Parliament Building on Friday.

There will be an air show by the SkyHawks. The Canadian Snowbirds are scheduled to perform an air show starting at 3:30 p.m. until 4 p.m.

Fireworks

The fireworks will be held near LeBreton Flats Park, starting at 10 p.m.

According to the Canadian Heritage website, the best views will be from LeBreton Flats Park, Place des Festival Zibi, and the surrounding streets.

TD OTTAWA JAZZ Festival

The TD Ottawa Jazz Festival will present free local performances on Canada Day at Marion Dewar Plaza in Ottawa City Hall.

There will be a live music performance from Jazz Youth Summit, Prime Rib Big Band, Lynne Hanson, and The Lionyls.

RCMP MUSICAL RIDE Event

The celebration will take place on July 1 at 2 p.m., with additional shows scheduled for July 2 and July 3 at 6 p.m.

The show will be free, but donations will be collected for the Ottawa Food Bank on Friday and Saturday. On Sunday, donations will be collected to support displaced Ukrainian families in Ottawa.

The Canadian Museum of Nature opens from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Canada Day (free admission)

The Canada Agriculture and Food Museum opens from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Canada Day (free admission)

The Canada Science and Technology Museum opens from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (free admission)

The Canada Aviation and Space Museum opens from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Canada Day (free admission)

The Canadian War Museum opens from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Canada Day (free admission)

The Canadian Museum of History opens from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Canada Day (free admission)

The National Gallery of Canada opens on Canada Day from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. (free admission, but ticket required)

Diefenbunker opens from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Canada Day in Greely

Canada Day celebrations will be held at Greely Community Center.

Events include breakfast and lunch at 11 a.m., children's games and interactive activities, and "spectacular fireworks" at 9:30 p.m.

Canada Day in Kanata

Celebrations include family fun segment, live musical bands, and fireworks at 10 p.m.

Riverside South

The Riverside South Community Association invites residents to enjoy the fireworks.

Music starts at 8 p.m., with fireworks beginning at sunset.

Canada Day in Arlington

Celebrations start at 5 p.m. on Friday, with recreational activities around the Community Center at 50 Bellman Drive. The celebrations will conclude with fireworks at sunset.
