French President Emmanuel Macron said to the newspaper "L'Équipe" on Wednesday that Russia as a state will not be present at the Olympic Games scheduled to be held in Paris in 2024.
Macron stated: "The Russian flag cannot be present at the Paris Olympics at a time when war crimes are being committed in Ukraine."
He also confirmed that the International Olympic Committee is responsible for deciding on the participation of Russian athletes in the Olympics individually or not.
The Olympics will take place in the French capital Paris next summer from July 26 to August 11, 2024.
The Olympic Games attract great interest all over the world, with the number of participants expected to reach 10,000 athletes across 32 different sports.
