The "Cairo News" channel reported that the Director of the US Intelligence, William Burns, the Prime Minister of Qatar Mohamed Abdulrahman Al Thani, and the head of the Israeli Mossad, David Barnea, are meeting today with Egyptian officials in Cairo to discuss the ceasefire situation in the Gaza Strip.

In this context, Cairo News quoted a senior source saying that Egypt is closely monitoring the situation in Rafah and is prepared to deal with all scenarios.

On the other hand, the American Wall Street Journal revealed a disagreement between Israeli officials and the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas regarding the duration of the ceasefire in Gaza, which Israel wants to be temporary.

Wall Street Journal quoted officials saying that Israel's decision to send a team to the quadrilateral talks held today came after US President Joe Biden increased his pressure on the head of the occupation government, Benjamin Netanyahu.

An informed official told international news agencies that Israel and Hamas have made progress toward an agreement aimed at achieving a ceasefire and releasing the hostages.

Press reports quoted the Western diplomat as saying that there is a 6-week agreement on the table, but more work is needed to reach consensus.

The Western diplomat mentioned that today's meeting will be decisive in closing the remaining gaps to push both sides to agree on a truce.

In a separate context, Ambassador Ahmed Abu Zeid, the official spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that it is unfortunate and disgraceful that Israeli Finance Minister "Smotrich" continues to make irresponsible and provocative statements that reveal nothing but a hunger for killing and destruction and sabotage of any attempt to contain the crisis in the Gaza Strip.

The spokesperson for the Egyptian Foreign Ministry considered such statements completely unacceptable, as Egypt has full control over its territory and does not allow any party to involve Egypt's name in any failed attempt to justify its poor performance.

The Israeli newspaper "Haaretz" had quoted Smotrich saying that Egypt "bears great responsibility for what happened on October 7," referring to Hamas's surprise attack on Israel, saying that Hamas's ammunition supplies "largely pass through Egypt."
