Members of a major healthcare union in Quebec expressed their disagreement in Quebec City yesterday, especially since the provincial government has not yet approved the renewal of collective agreements for the majority of public sector nurses.

Julie Bouchard, president of the Quebec health professional union (FIQ), said at a large gathering in front of the Quebec Museum of Fine Arts shortly before noon before the protesters marched to the National Assembly, that the demands were heard, and we are still here, ready to negotiate better working conditions in the next collective agreement - after all, this is the point of renegotiation."

FIQ represents more than 80,000 nurses, nursing assistants, psychoanalysts, and clinical nutrition specialists working in health institutions throughout the province.

The nurses' union was not part of the common front among the unions, which represent 420,000 workers in the public health and education sectors.

CSN, CSQ, APTS, and FTQ leaders finally reached an agreement with the Legault government at the end of December. Members approved the latest temporary settlements in February.

A month ago, FIQ criticized Quebec's demands for "flexibility," which it said conceals the desire to forcibly transfer nurses, for example from psychiatry to surgery.

At that time, FIQ was negotiating and was not planning further strike days, as was the case in November and December
