An Ottawa police officer faces several charges related to incidents involving sexual assault.
Ottawa Police announced on Friday that the Professional Standards Section charged the officer, whose name was not mentioned, with sexual assault, assault, criminal harassment, and voyeurism.
The incidents occurred between 2014 and 2022. The police said, "The crimes were reported to the Public Prosecutor's Office earlier this year, prompting the Professional Standards Unit to investigate."
The police said the officer's name will not be disclosed to protect the victim's privacy, adding that the officer was suspended.
The police say the crimes do not fall under the jurisdiction of the Special Investigations Unit.
