The pilot of a small plane was airlifted to the hospital with serious injuries after an emergency landing at Qualicum Beach Airport Sunday evening.
The plane missed the runway at the airport, which is located between Qualicum Beach, Pre-Birth, and Parksville, British Columbia.
A statement from the town of Qualicum Beach said a Cessna 172 was forced to make an emergency landing at about 7:45 p.m. and firefighters and paramedics responded to the scene.
The police and municipality said the pilot, who was the sole occupant of the plane, exited the plane and was airlifted to the hospital.
The town of Qualicum Beach said in a statement that the pilot was in "serious condition," while Oceanside police said the pilot's injuries were considered non-life-threatening.
The organizer, who did not respond to comments from CTV News, wrote on the GoFundMe page that the pilot was airlifted to Victoria General Hospital in "serious but stable condition." The organizer, Klem Mabrouki, wrote, "My brother recently graduated as a commercial pilot and is about to start his career as a professional pilot."
