Ottawa Mayor Jim Watson confirmed that the current emergency measures allow the city to exploit and sell the trucks used by the protesters.
Watson added, "The trucks confiscated during the demonstration must be sold to compensate for the losses incurred by the city. We also have the authority to do so."
The mayor also confirmed that he does not want to return the trucks to their owners and is firm on the decision to sell them because they caused a lot of anxiety and problems in Ottawa.
Jim Watson said that the emergency law, approved by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau last week, gives the city the right to deal with the seized trucks.
