In a tweet on the platform X, formerly known as Twitter, the Ottawa police confirmed the death of a three-year-old boy after falling from several stories of an apartment on Donald Street on Sunday afternoon. The police confirmed that the boy died in the hospital.
The police said, "An investigation is underway to understand the cause of the fall and to provide support to the family."
The boy was found without signs indicating he was still alive, and a police spokesperson stated that the child showed no signs of life when paramedics arrived at 1240 Donald Street at around 1 p.m. yesterday, Sunday.
The arriving paramedics attempted to revive the child and transported him to the Children's Injury Centre, where signs that he had passed away remained.
The paramedics stated that he fell from a great height, as one window barrier was seen on the ground near the boy.
It has been determined that one window barrier from the sixteenth floor was missing.
However, a person living in the building where the incident occurred claimed that the boy fell from the eighteenth floor.
It is worth mentioning that the building consists of 19 floors and there is no thirteenth floor. The police did not immediately confirm the extent of the child's fall.
