Ottawa Hospital closed its civic and general campus after a bomb threat.
In a message to staff, Ottawa Hospital President and CEO Cameron Love said the hospital received a bomb threat on the campus before noon on Saturday.
Adding, as a result, we made the decision to secure/lock down the entire campus until the situation in downtown stabilizes.
Explaining that the hospital takes all threats seriously and the police were called immediately.
He said, "We followed our precautionary procedures for these situations, and both the general and civic campuses underwent thorough inspections.
The police secured the area and restored service now, and there is no further cause for concern."
For its part, the police said Ottawa officers responded to a call regarding a suspicious incident in the 500 block of Smith Road at about 10 a.m.
The police said, "The incident is under investigation and no further details are available at this time."
