Langford City reveals its own plans to host this year's family-friendly Canada Day event. The celebration will run from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on July 1 at Starlight Field.
The event will begin with a pancake breakfast by donation, followed by live music, backyard games, face painting, and more.
The city says there will also be an eating contest and a pancake baking competition.
During the evening, the city will screen a family movie on an outdoor screen on the field. Langford Mayor "Stew Young" said in a statement on Thursday, "Langford residents have long requested a family-friendly Canada Day event, and I am pleased that the city can meet this request."
He said, "It will be an exciting long weekend in 'Langford' with many free and affordable events for Langford residents of all ages."
The city says the concession area and "beer garden" will also be open all day. Langford's first Canada Day celebration coincides with the city's thirtieth anniversary.
The municipality says it will work with Indigenous people to plan the event and develop a special presentation that reflects the region's features.
Young said, "It has been a very difficult time over the past two years, and now more than ever we need to connect with friends and neighbors."
