"Chantal Rouleau," the minister responsible for the capital and the Montreal area, made this announcement on Thursday during the "Colloque Urbanité et jeunes Hamburgisés," an event organized by the "Café-Jeunesse Multiculturel de Montréal-Nord".

She said, "We are all concerned about gun violence, and our goal is to foster a better understanding of the issues related to gun violence in the Capital Region in order to better guide decisions."

The Quebec government indicates that it has already contributed more than 90 million dollars to the "CENTAURE" operation, in addition to 52 million dollars for crime prevention measures.

"Louise Poissant," the scientific director of FRQSC, explained: "The establishment of this "research chair" will make it possible to respond to the significant social concern related to gun violence in the city."
