An investigation conducted by "Temiskaming OPP" into a stolen car in the town of Harley on Tuesday led to charges against a 32-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman.
He added that "the accused carried out several break-ins and thefts in the surrounding area." The police said they also responded to a car crash on Highway 11 south of Latchford involving the accused.
The police said, "One of the accused was arrested, while the other fled the area on foot, but was arrested shortly thereafter."
They said a theft occurred in the town of Dak, where an altercation took place between the homeowner and the accused, resulting in an assault on the homeowner.
The homeowner sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Following the investigation, the accused were charged with the following:
- Attempted murder
- Assault
- Threatening and intimidating people
The accused is in custody awaiting a bail hearing and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on June 3 in Temiskaming Shores. The police said the investigation is ongoing.
