The online donation campaign aims to raise one million dollars in donations to help the historic Toronto church that was severely damaged by a fire over the weekend.
St. Anne's Anglican Church, a national historic site, features early paintings by three groups of seven members alongside other Canadian artists.
A fire on Sunday morning destroyed the building's dome and caused significant damage to the rest of the Byzantine-style church that was built in the early 20th century—no one was inside the church at the time of the fire.
A member of the choir at St. Anne's started a fundraising campaign on GoFundMe, which has raised over $12,000 as of Wednesday afternoon.
Isabella Favaro stated in the fundraising appeal that all donations will go to St. Anne's to help restore the church and replace the choir and music equipment lost in the fire and assist in arranging temporary facilities for services.
Toronto police stated that the fire is not being treated as suspicious at this time, and the office is investigating the cause of the fire.
