The spokesperson for the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Majid Al-Ansari, announced that the mediators' meeting to end the war on the Gaza Strip, which was held on Thursday in Doha, is still ongoing and will resume on Friday.

Al-Ansari stated in a statement to the Qatari News Agency "QNA" that "the efforts of the mediators in the State of Qatar, the Arab Republic of Egypt, and the United States of America are ongoing," and confirmed that the mediators are determined to proceed in their efforts to achieve a ceasefire in the strip, during which hostages will be released and as much humanitarian assistance as possible will enter Gaza.

The Qatari foreign ministry spokesperson pointed out that "the statement issued on August 8 by the leaders of the State of Qatar, the Arab Republic of Egypt, and the United States of America, calling for an end to the long-standing suffering of the people of the Gaza Strip, as well as the hostages and their families, and to conclude an agreement for a ceasefire and the release of hostages and detainees, is based on the principles proposed by President Biden on May 31, 2024, which were supported by Security Council Resolution 2735."

Earlier on Thursday, a senior Egyptian source confirmed that the Egyptian security delegation is making intensive efforts to reach a ceasefire agreement in Gaza, noting that negotiations in Doha will continue for another day.

National Security Advisor at the White House John Kirby confirmed on Thursday that the ceasefire talks in Gaza have resumed and that some gaps have been bridged, while the remaining disputes are "resolvable."

On Thursday, a new round of negotiations for a truce in the Gaza Strip began, mediated by Qatari, American, and Egyptian parties, while military operations on the ground continue.

The negotiations follow ten months of a destructive Israeli war launched on the Gaza Strip and amid regional escalation between Tel Aviv on one side and Iran and its allies on the other.

The United States and Israel announced the sending of their delegations to Qatar to participate in negotiations that are also expected to include representatives from the mediating governments of Egypt and Qatar alongside Washington, according to what was reported by the "AFP" agency.

Based on previous negotiation sessions, there are no direct talks between the two concerned parties; rather, the mediators convey proposals and responses to each of the delegations that are not in the same room.

During the past ten months, a one-week truce was reached last November, during which detained prisoners in Gaza were exchanged for Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails, which included a commitment to ceasefire.
