A 30-year-old man faces several charges, including possession of a firearm for a dangerous purpose, following an ATV trail incident outside Liverpool in Nova Scotia.

Queens District Police say they received a report on May 7 about a man threatening a group of people riding ATVs between Port Medway and Brooklyn, NS.

The police also say he threatened the group and displayed a firearm.

In a Monday press release, the police said they arrested Michael Gerald Wentzell without any resistance from him at a hotel in Liverpool on Friday.

Wentzell faces charges of: possession of a firearm for a dangerous purpose and unauthorized discharge of a firearm, as well as the prohibition of possessing a firearm when knowing that possession is illegal, three charges related to failure to comply with court-issued release order conditions related to previous firearms offenses. Police say he is currently in custody and is scheduled to appear before the Bridgewater District Court Monday afternoon. According to the police, the weapon has not yet been found.
