At least 21 people, including foreign tourists, died and more than 20 others were injured on Tuesday evening in Venice after a methane-fueled bus fell from a bridge and caught fire, according to authorities in the globally renowned city located in northern Italy.
Luca Zaia, the governor of the Veneto region and its capital Venice, stated that "the preliminary toll is at least 21 victims and more than 20 people in the hospital, many of whom are in extremely critical condition," describing the incident as "a tragedy of major proportions."
He also clarified on Facebook that among the victims of the incident "are some minors," indicating that "operations to recover and identify the bodies are still ongoing."
