Murder of Canadian businessmen in Egypt

The Egyptian Interior Ministry announced in a post on its official "Facebook" account early Wednesday that a research team has been formed to uncover the circumstances of a shooting incident involving a Canadian national.

The Egyptian Interior Ministry stated: "On May 7th, a Canadian businessman (who resides in the country permanently) was involved in a criminal shooting incident in Alexandria."

It added: "Legal measures have been taken, and a research team has been formed to investigate the circumstances of the incident."

The Egyptian Interior Ministry did not disclose further details regarding the identity of the Canadian or the party responsible for the incident.
