Montreal: Tunisian working at Albert Prevost Hospital shot dead in the head

Mokhtar Belhaj from the National Association of Tunisians Abroad reported, in a statement on Friday, August 5, 2022, that "the Tunisian Mohamed Saleh, 48 years old, died yesterday after being shot in the head in Montreal."

Belhaj spoke about the details of the incident, confirming that the deceased was subjected to a shooting incident while heading to his workplace at Albert Prevost Hospital at eleven-thirty at night, and while he was waiting for the bus, a person approached him and shot him in the head, killing him.

He added that the killer is known to the Canadian security authorities and is involved in attempted murder and rape cases, and was scheduled to appear before the Canadian judiciary in February 2023, and that he suffers from psychological disorders.

He pointed out that the deceased had been living in Canada for 20 years and is a native Tunisian from the Kessour Essaf area, and he had returned a week ago from Saudi Arabia where he was performing Umrah rituals, and his body will be transferred to his hometown next Wednesday.

He confirmed that the cities of Montreal and Laval witnessed random sniper operations that claimed 3 lives within two days, including Mohamed Saleh Belhaj, 48, who was sniped in the Ahuntsic area, the second victim is the father of the international boxer David Lemieux, who was sniped in the Jules Poitras area, and the third victim, aged twenty, was sniped yesterday by a bullet to the head in the Laval Des Rapides area.

He added that the Montreal police found the killer, aged 26, who was hiding in Motel Pierre near the Islamic Center, and an exchange of fire took place with him early in the morning until he was killed by the special unit members this morning, and his identity and the motives for the crimes are still unknown.
