Tunisian security forces arrested a minor in a duffel bag at a seaport who was attempting to migrate illegally.
The National Security Department reported the arrest of the minor at the Halq al-Wadi port in the capital inside a duffel bag in the trunk of his uncle’s car, who was preparing to travel on a ship abroad.
This is the latest innovative attempt witnessed at Tunisian ports to depart illegally on ships designated for carrying goods or transporting passengers to European ports.
During the car search, security forces also found large quantities of cigarettes hidden under the rear seats of the car.
The minor was referred to the judiciary, but those caught attempting illegal migration at the ports are often released.
The minor’s uncle faces charges of "assisting a person to leave Tunisian territory without travel documents".
