Canadian Foreign Minister Melanie Joly said on Thursday that the death of dozens of people who were waiting for an aid convoy in Gaza is a "nightmare" and called for an end to the fighting in the sector.
Health authorities in Gaza said that more than 100 Palestinians were killed by Israeli forces' gunfire. Israel questioned the number of casualties and said that many of them were "run over by aid trucks
Joly added to reporters in Ottawa: "When it comes to what happened in Gaza today... I have to say that I think this is a nightmare. We must ensure that international aid is sent to Gaza and that people are protected when they go and receive that aid
