According to local media, the center of the storm moved on Sunday, September 10, 2023, from the Mediterranean Sea to the eastern coast of Libya, where heavy rains flooded some areas and caused road closures.

The government appointed by the Libyan House of Representatives announced a public holiday on Sunday and Monday due to weather fluctuations in the eastern region and formed an emergency room to monitor developments in Benghazi.

Libyans shared videos on social media showing water accumulation in some neighborhoods in the eastern region.

In the capital, Tripoli, water flooded some neighborhoods due to heavy rains since Friday, and the rains caused road closures in the Souq Jumah and Ain Zara neighborhoods in Tripoli.

Additionally, the western mountain areas witnessed several wadis flowing, including Wadi Al-Athl, which temporarily halted the movement of travelers from the mountain areas to Tripoli.

Earlier on Sunday, the National Center of Meteorology in Libya warned of "weather fluctuations accompanied by strong winds and heavy rains, causing local wadis to flow and road closures."

The center added in a statement published on Facebook that "the effectiveness of the rainy clouds will gradually decrease starting tomorrow, Monday, with an improvement in weather conditions, while the wind movement will be active to strong in speed."
