Canadian teammates Katie Vincent and Selin McKenzie won the bronze medal in the women's 500-meter doubles final.

Vincent from Mississauga, Ontario, and McKenzie from Windsor Junction, Nova Scotia, finished the race in one minute and 54.36 seconds, behind China's Shichiao Shou and Mingjia Sun, who took the gold medal.

The Canadian duo started strong but could not catch up to China and suffered a surprise defeat from Ukraine, which made a late push to secure the silver medal in a tie at the finish.

This is Vincent's second Olympic medal after she won a bronze at the Tokyo Games where she competed in the same event with Laurence Vincent Lapointe.

Friday was a busy day for Canadian rowers, as competitor Connor Fitzpatrick finished eighth in the men's 1000-meter semifinal, while racers Courtney Stott and Natalie Davison placed eighth in the women's 500-meter doubles semifinal, and Pierre-Luc Poulin and Simon McTavish came in sixth in the men's kayak 500-meter semifinal.

These three boats are scheduled to compete in the ranking races on Friday afternoon.
