Toronto police are investigating after a person was shot dead Saturday afternoon in the same North York neighborhood where a teenager was seriously injured in another shooting less than 24 hours earlier.

Shortly after 3 p.m., police said they received a call about hearing gunshots in the Driftwood Avenueg Jane Street area south of
Shoreham Drive

When they arrived, officers found a person with a gunshot wound, and the police said the victim was taken to the trauma center in critical condition and later died.

At the same time, police said officers are searching for suspects who fled in a black Mazda 6 hatchback.

Saturday's incident is the second shooting in the same area in less than a day.

Shortly before 6 p.m. Friday, police responded to an incident at Driftwoodg Jane Street Avenue and found a young man with a gunshot wound who was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Police said they are looking for a suspect who fled in a black sedan and is described as being between 16 and 18 years old, with long curly black hair, last seen wearing black jeans.
It is unknown whether the two incidents are connected or not
