Calgary residents continue to conserve water, but the mayor wants city residents to try to do a little better.

In her update on Saturday morning, the city’s mayor stated that water consumption on Friday reached 462 million liters, meaning another day below the city’s threshold level.

Gondek said, “This is good, but I know we can do better. If we can reduce consumption a little, it will give us a bit more room in case of an emergency.”

Gondek explained that repairs on five hot spots are progressing according to schedule, with the hoped-for target date for review still on the horizon.

With the hot and sunny weekend approaching, she requested that city residents refrain from watering lawns and gardens for a bit longer.

If you're planning to enjoy a sunny afternoon in the backyard, she suggested visiting one of the businesses in Bowens, where companies have seen a drop in business since the main water line was disrupted a few weeks ago.

The next update from the city is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, where city experts will provide more details on the progress of the repairs.
