Israel delays the departure of the negotiation team regarding the hostage release deal and ceasefire in Gaza until after the meeting between Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and U.S. President Joe Biden
The "Times of Israel" reported that an Israeli source said the Israeli negotiating delegation would not travel to Qatar tomorrow and would postpone its departure.
The source explained that the reason for the delay is the postponement of the meeting between Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and U.S. President Joe Biden to Thursday.
The source added that Netanyahu intends to discuss the emerging deal with Biden to plan how to move forward with the deal and the situation in Gaza after the war.
The source stated that the delegation would leave for talks after the meeting, but did not specify when, while the "Walla" news site reported that the delegation might only leave next week.
The source confirmed that despite the delay, negotiators continue their discussions with intermediaries from Egypt, Qatar, and the United States.
Meanwhile, the families of the hostages expressed their anger over the delay in the negotiating team's departure to Qatar until next week.
The postponement comes as Netanyahu is in Washington to deliver a speech before Congress.
Einav Zangoker, the mother of hostage Matan Zangoker, said: "Instead of announcing before Congress his acceptance of the deal on the table, Netanyahu is preventing the deal from moving forward for personal reasons."
She added, "Even if we knew there were more hostages killed in Hamas tunnels, he would continue his public relations tour in the United States and keep stalling."
The families of the hostages organized a protest march from Dizengoff Square to the Hostages Square, where they would watch Netanyahu's speech, followed by a large march.
